The radiography profession continues to experience enormous changes and challenges. The radiographer's role is changing; radiographer shortages are a global issue, and the demand for imaging is increasing at unprecedented rates. As a profession, we will need to develop novel initiatives to address these issues and maximise high-quality care for our patients. This session aims to highlight and discuss some of the contemporary issues; these include new training models for radiographers and the importance of the radiographer's role in an era of staff shortages and increasing demands. The session will also discuss how the radiographer's role can evolve to promote lifelong careers.
