Research is an integral part of our radiological practice. Whether you’re conducting your own studies or implementing research findings in your daily clinical routine, it is important to know about the fundamentals of radiological research. This new season of the Fundamentals of Radiological Research Course addresses current hot topics in the clinical and research arena: value-based medicine, biomarkers and artificial intelligence. Each session is led by luminaries in the field and includes ample time for questions from the audience. The course will conclude with two Open Forum Sessions at ECR 2025.

Value-based radiology: research beyond diagnostic accuracy

The true value of a diagnostic or interventional imaging procedure is not just its diagnostic accuracy, but the impact it has on patient management and outcome, and even on society as a whole. In this session, the concept of value-based radiology is explained, and strategies to associate diagnosis with outcome are discussed.

Learning objectives:

  • To understand the concepts of value-based radiology.
  • To learn how value can be defined and measured.
