COURSE INFORMATION
The webinar series will explore key challenges in radiation protection and optimisation in paediatric CT and imaging of pregnant patients. Across four webinars, topics will include balancing radiation dose with diagnostic confidence, practical optimisation of paediatric CT protocols, appropriate imaging and risk communication during pregnancy, and identifying variability, overuse and hidden radiation exposure in everyday paediatric CT practice.
Each webinar will include presentations and discussions from a radiologist, a radiographer and a medical physicist. In addition to this, each webinar will also include live test questions and a live Q&A discussion (based on audience questions).
The programme of this webinar will explore the challenges of imaging pregnant patients, focusing on balancing concerns about radiation risk with the need for timely and appropriate diagnostic imaging. It is aimed at radiologists, radiographers, and medical physicists who want to improve their skills in:
► Understanding the principles of radiation risk assessment and appropriate imaging decision-making during pregnancy
► Selecting and communicating appropriate imaging strategies in clinical situations where diagnostic imaging is essential
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After watching the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Understand actual vs perceived radiation risks in pregnancy
- Identify when CT is justified in pregnant patients
- Compare CT vs MRI vs ultrasound in emergency scenarios
- Communicate risk effectively with patients and clinicians
On-demand access is available for registered participants for one week after the course, afterwards exclusively for holders of the ESR Premium Education Package.
