IND 55 - Pixels, Photons & Petabytes: The New Currency of Radiology

March 6, 11:30 - 12:30 CET

Radiology has traditionally been defined by the modality itself: a single acquisition producing a finite diagnostic output. Today, that paradigm is shifting. As artificial intelligence moves from experimental add-on to embedded diagnostic engine, imaging is no longer just about producing images - it is about generating, managing and extracting value from the vast interconnected datasets.

This panel explores how modern imaging has become a multi-layered data ecosystem. Advanced modalities such as photon-counting CT are no longer simply creating higher-resolution images; they are producing richer, multi-energy, quantitative datasets that dramatically increase both data volume and clinical potential. When combined with AI, each scan now generates multiple data-points; pixels, photons, metadata, clinical context, patient history and algorithmic outputs - transforming the scan into a continuous source of intelligence rather than a static diagnostic moment.
